Our Costs - Donors and Supporters Only

Our Costs - Donors and Supporters Only

Isegoria believes in the free, unrestricted, fair dissemination of knowledge and research. For this reason, we do not charge our authors any publication fees, nor do we send away those who do not have access to Open Access Publishing funds.

For authors who do not have funding for Open Access publishing, we will seek external funding via our supporters while production is underway.

We are happy to receive fees from authors who have access to Open Access Publishing funds. If institutional or funders’ agreements do not fully cover our costs, we will seek external funding via our supporters to cover the difference (and proceed with the publication regardless of the outcome).

Our Costs - Donors and Supporters Only

Isegoria does not charge publishing fees to authors and relies on external funding. Our supporters, donors, sponsors, and patrons are kindly advised to consult our costings below for their reference.

  • Monographs. We expect that £10,000 should cover editing, production, and administrative costs. Our calculation of editing fees is informed by the suggestions of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and the data collected by the Editorial Freelancers Association. Again, all costs are covered by our patrons and supporters.
  • Edited Volumes and Conference Proceedings. £10,000 if language editing (English) is necessary.
  • Edited Volumes and Conference Proceedings with external editors. £5,000 should cover proofreading, layout, typesetting, administrative and service cost.
  • Seminars. Our calculations are based on the average range for lecturers in the UK: £25per hour. Years of experience show that each hour of instruction incurs at least eight (8) hours of preparation, if not significantly more. Hence, the hourly cost of seminar/workshop delivery is set at £225 (local taxes and accrued costs, e.g., administration or development of assessment methods, are excluded). Current seminars on offer include the Introduction to Greek Epigraphy (20hrs), The Brave New Hellenistic World (30hrs), Athenian Democracy: The History and Reception of a Political Idea (30hrs), and Memory and Tradition in the Ancient World (20hrs)
